Awana is a nondenominational ministry that assists churches in reaching children and teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him. Our message to churches is simple: We're here to serve you with a ministry that is all about fun with a purpose — to win and grow kids for Christ! At Awana we have programs to reach 3 year olds through the 12th grade and the families and friends of those young people. The age groups break down as follows: Cubbies is a two year program for three- and four-year-old children. The material is based on a zoo theme. Children learn foundational truths about God, the Bible and Jesus. Sparks is a three year program for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The theme of the material is based on nature. Children learn about Jesus in the past , present, and future. Truth & Training is a four year program for 3rd through 6th grade. The theme of the material is based on the ultimate adventure–living the Christian life. Children learn 8 answers to 16 foundational questions. Trek is a two or three year program for 6th - 8th-grade youth. The material is based on an athletics theme. Tools are provided that disciple youth through three levels: Come See, Come Follow and Come Serve. Journey is a four year program for 9th through 12th-grade youth. The core group completes four basic discipleship courses and four electives on Bible doctrine. The core group is also mentored in becoming part of the leadership team that reaches out to other youth using program tools.
